The site was initially constructed as part of a high school construction project. The fields were never accepted due to unacceptable playing conditions. The Town contacted PPA, first to review and assess the original construction, and then to provide design services for reconstruction as well as facility upgrades. Major features include baseball, softball, and lacrosse/soccer fields, new field drainage systems, field lighting, and an emergency and maintenance access road.

During construction the Town decided to add field event facilities including discus throw, shot-put, and javelin areas. These were added without impacting other facility use areas.
