Faxon Park is an important historical, environmental, and recreational resource for the City of Quincy. Situated at the top of Penn’s Hill, it has provided respite to citizens of Quincy since the original 26.4 acres was donated to the City by Henry H. Faxon in August of 1885. Subsequent additions in 1935, 1940, 1998, and 2007 have brought the total land area of the park to 88 acres.

The Quincy Park Department contracted with Park Planning Associates to work with city officials, neighbors, and the environmental community to develop this Master Plan.

The result is an ambitious plan that will guide park development, rehabilitation, maintenance, and management well into the future. Just as important as the plan itself is the commitment of Faxon Park neighbors and supporters to organize themselves as advocates, potentially as The Friends of Faxon Park, to provide volunteer actions in support of the Park.

The project also included preparation of cost estimates and a number of applications for CPA funding for historic restoration projects. The first of these projects, rehabilitation of the historic WPA built perimeter wall has been funded and is in process.
