Lakenham Green is one of the most important historic properties in the Town of Carver. The half-acre site was a part of the original land grant of 150 acres on either side of Six Mile Brook given to John Jenney in 1637, to be known as Lakenham, the name of a town in England bordering Plymouth. The land was first used as a common grazing area and then as a training green, being known as Lakenham Green until the Civil War and then as North Carver Common.

The project was designed to engage the community in a process to appreciate the historic importance of the green, to develop a restoration master plan, design plans, and cost estimates for the restoration. The plan considers current efforts to restore the adjacent Grange Hall building for public use.

Planning and design were funded with Community Preservation funds and it is anticipated that CPA will provide much of the funding for implementation.
